For a fair amount of time now I've practiced a thing called lucid dreaming, which means being aware that you are dreaming while you're in one. Essentially this gives you the ability to control it, and with practice you can do literally _anything_ your mind is capable of imagining, which is quite a lot, really. <_<
Lately I had been reading stuff on the internets about a specific technique for inducing a lucid dream, which is to go through the entire phase of falling asleep and entering a dream without once losing consciousness. From what I had read, the moment of entering a dream is supposed to be extremely weird and trippy, and though everyone goes through it several times a night, the memory of it is erased and we (usually) can never recall it when we wake up. (For the curious, look up "Hypnagogia" on wikipedia) So anyway I wanted to try this for myself and see what it's like, and just a couple days ago I finally succeeded.
It was maybe 4 or 5 in the morning and I had been asleep for several hours when I woke up very briefly and noted that it was still dark outside, and considered getting up for a snack but my mind and body just went NOOOOOPE. So I close my eyes, but focus my intention on maintaining consciousness as I fall back asleep. To do this I just breathe slowly and count numbers in my mind. I didn't count very far before all of a sudden I feel my eyes twitch VIOLENTLY back and forth. (This is probably REM sleep kicking in while I'm still having a slight sense of touch left in my body.) This makes me open my eyes, and notice it's a bit light outside, maybe just before sunrise. I think (hmm, it can't possibly be that late already... I must be dreaming this.)
Before I can do anything else though, my entire body gets yanked to the side as if pulled by some strong force, and things just go crazy from there. I hear a rush of loud noises as my entire body instantly goes numb and vibrates harder and harder, and finally I feel what can only be called my spirit, for lack of better term, split out from my body, and I'm in the dream world, and completely conscious. For anyone who hasn't experienced dream lucidity, all I can say to describe it is it's like reaching nirvana.

I proceeded to walk out my front door and jump into the air, and flew, completely free from gravity. Best dream I ever had in my life.

True wisdom is a gift from time, some are lucky, and some do without.
It is our duty to share wisdom with the unlucky and those who can't do without.
